The project is financed by Danube Transnational Programme, under Priority 4.

Programme priority specific objective: SO 4.2 Support to the governance and implementation of the EUSDR

The development of Transport Infrastructure when intersects Green Infrastructure increases the level of fragmentation of natural ecosystems which is considered as being one of the biggest threat to biodiversity, therefore the aim of the main project proposal will be to contribute to securing and fostering ecological connectivity by ensuring the ecological requirements/sufficiency of areas of high biodiversity value while developing linear transportation infrastructures in the Danube Region.

Project results will contribute to achieve the TEN-G (Trans-European Network for Green Infrastructure) goal and will bring side contributions to other EUSDR PAs, as follows:

  • Priority 1b – Rail-Road-Air Mobility, Topic 1: The project will contribute to environmental sustainability within transport services in rural areas.
  • Priority 6 – Biodiversity & Landscapes, Topic 3: Supporting sustainability on development of transportation projects in rural areas – the project will focus on supporting ecological connectivity and natural evolution of biodiversity, address the eradication of Invasive Alien Species and promote the integration of grey infrastructure in the local character of the Danube Region landscape.
  • Priority 7 – Knowledge Society, Topic 2, 3, 4: The project will promote and support the training, research, capacity-building, adapted policy on interdisciplinary level involving different target groups as universities, research centers, NGOs, decision makers, authorities and sectorial stakeholders increasing both the professionals’ capacity and job opportunities in combination of ecology and transportation.
